Horseback Riding Program

Camp Deer Creek offers our special English riding program.

This summer's program will feature the following areas of horsemanship:

*  Hunt Seat Equitation

*  Pleasure riding

*  Elementary jumping

*  Grooming and showmanship

*  Care of horse and tack

Lessons

Deer Creek horseback riding lessons are group lessons, approximately 45 minutes in duration, and cover all aspects of horsemanship.  This includes a child's first meeting with a horse to jumping and cantering, and everything in between.  We also train our campers in horse and tack care.

Cost is $45.00 per lesson.

Equipment

Riding equipment consists of long pants and hard-soled shoes or boots with a defined heel.  TENNIS SHOES ARE NOT PERMISSIBLE.  Riders are required to wear protective helmets or hunt caps.  We provide helmets or your child may bring their own.  Please send your child with riding equipment each day until they complete their allotment of riding lessons, and ensure that their name is on ALL of their equipment/clothing. When they have finished their lessons for the week they can take their equipment home for cleaning.

Scheduling

Campers can request one or two lessons per week.  Due to the unpredictable nature of the weather, absences and other unforeseen circumstances, our daily riding schedule is not made until the morning of each camp day.  Therefore, there is no way of pre-scheduling what day your child will ride.  Please send your child with riding equipment each day until they complete their allotment of riding lessons.  When they have finished their lessons for the week they can take their equipment home for cleaning.  Occasionally,  your camper may have to finish their requested number of lessons on their next scheduled camp week.  Every attempt is made to give every camper their number of requested lessons.  If we still cannot meet that number, you will be given a refund.
